The Skyliners Show that was rained out July 13 will not be rescheduled.

July 13

In 1958, Jimmy, Wally Lester and Jack Taylor-who had been singing with Joe Rock’s group, The Cresents – combined with Joe Versharen and Janet Vogel from The ElRios, another vocal group from Pittsburgh’s South Hills. Joe Rock, then named them for jazz orchestra leader Charlie Barnett’s theme song “Skyliner”.                       Joe conceived the words to the song and later Jimmy Beaumont provided the melody. Today, “Since I Don’t Have You” is regarded as the quintessential fifties ballad.

The River City Brass Band

*Saturday August 9  This very special edition of The Irwin Summer Concerts will cap off a yearlong 150th birthday celebration for Irwin Borough.  The nationally acclaimed River City Brass Band will begin at 7:30 pm after a day of festivities all around town.  Plan on staying a bit late to enjoy the Kenny Ross Fireworks spectacular following the show.

In 1981, something special happened – a musical renaissance took place in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Under the baton of conductor Robert Bernat, the River City Brass took to the Carnegie Music Hall stage for its inaugural concert on November 21. It was an evening of musical excellence and determination – determination to bring about the revival of the grass-roots tradition of the American brass band.

Come  early and enjoy County Rock & blues band
